Actor Rowoon takes on a rugged role, transforming into a wayward rogue.
Disney+'s first historical drama series "The Murky Stream" announced its casting lineup on November 21. Rowoon, Shin Ye-eun, Park Seo-ham, and Park Ji-hwan will headline the series.
"The Murky Stream" tells the story of Joseon's Gyeonggang River turning into a polluted stream. The drama follows the fates of Si-yul (played by Rowoon), a rogue hiding his past, Choi Eun (played by Shin Ye-eun), a righteous merchant, and Jeong Cheon (played by Park Seo-ham), an aspiring incorruptible government official.
The series unites director Choo Chang-min of "Masquerade" fame and writer Chun Sung-il, known for "Chuno" and "All of Us Are Dead."
Rowoon plays Jang Si-yul, a rogue from the Mapo dockside, marking his first venture into such a gritty role and signaling a significant transformation in his acting repertoire.
Shin Ye-eun takes on the role of Choi Eun, a top merchant leading Joseon's most prominent trade group. Park Seo-ham portrays Jeong Cheon, a principled officer of the police force tasked with rooting out corruption, making his historical drama debut.
"The Murky Stream" is set to premiere next year on Disney+.
