A unique audition program is coming from Mnet, produced in two regions and two languages.
On the 26th, Mnet unveiled plans for a new boy group survival project. Titled Boys2Planet, the show will air next year as the second season of Boys Planet.
For the first time in the world, the project will form twin K-pop groups. Two separate programs, created in different languages but based on the same format and shared universe, will air simultaneously.
Through Boys2Planet, two groups will debut. Mnet, known for its innovative planning and production expertise, has raised expectations for this fresh attempt.
A teaser video for Boys2Planet was revealed at the MAMA Awards in Japan on the 22nd, hinting at the twin project with the message "Two Worlds."
The project will kick off with Boys2PlanetK (Korea) and Boys2PlanetC (China). Each will be produced in Korean and Chinese, respectively, targeting a global audience.
Chief Producer Kim Shin-young described it as "a project based on a multiverse concept," adding, "We chose Chinese, a language spoken by approximately 1.5 billion people worldwide, as the first challenge for this project."
She continued, "This will be a journey to discover global artist gems, regardless of nationality. Watch for the synergy when these groups come together as a complete unit."
Applications for Boys2Planet are open to males born before January 1, 2012, regardless of nationality, with candidates choosing between K and C tracks.
