NewJeans Announces Termination of Contract with ADOR, Bids Farewell to Fans
NewJeans (Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein) has announced their decision to terminate their exclusive contract with ADOR and delivered a heartfelt farewell message to fans.
At midnight on November 29, the group shared their thoughts with fans through the communication platform Phoning.
Leader Minji began by saying, "You've worked hard today, as always. This is just the beginning for us." She reassured fans with optimism, adding, "Even if we can't meet on Phoning anymore, don't worry—we'll find you and come back soon."
Youngest member Hyein also expressed her love for fans, saying, "Starting tomorrow, we might not be able to come to Phoning anymore." She continued, "I'm so sorry, but don't worry. We'll find new ways to communicate. Bunnyz, who always overcome tough times with us, are so amazing. Let's continue to stay together."
Hanni wrote a long letter in both Korean and English, stating, "There's so much I want to say, but I'll save it for later when I can share it with you." She added, "I'm so thankful, I love you, and I treasure you deeply." Hanni reassured fans, saying, "I'm not scared at all. I think we've done everything we could. So, think of this as a short break. We'll come back soon and surprise you."
Haerin and Danielle also thanked fans, expressing their gratitude with words like "Thank you" and "I love you."
On November 28, NewJeans held an emergency press conference at the Space Wear Samsung Center in Gangnam, Seoul, announcing that they would terminate their contract with ADOR starting midnight on November 29.
In their statement, the group emphasized, "We have never breached our exclusive contract, so we won't be paying any penalties. While we may not be able to use the name NewJeans for the time being, the essence of NewJeans remains unchanged, and we have no intention of giving up the name."
However, ADOR quickly issued an official response, stating, "ADOR, as the exclusive contract holder, has not violated the contract. Claiming that trust has been broken does not constitute grounds for termination. The exclusive contracts between ADOR and the NewJeans members remain valid. We ask for your continued support for future activities as planned under ADOR."
