NewJeans, "ADOR Took No Corrective Actions, Contract No Longer Valid"

NewJeans Members Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein Emphasize End of Exclusive Contract with ADOR

On November 29, Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein (hereinafter referred to as "the five members") released a statement declaring, "As of November 29, 2024, we have terminated our exclusive contract with ADOR, and we will continue our activities independently, free from both HYBE and ADOR."

The five members pointed out that ADOR had failed to fulfill its obligation to faithfully manage NewJeans for the group's benefit. Despite the 14-day rectification period, they noted, ADOR refused to address their concerns, leaving no issues resolved.

"Over the past few months, we made multiple requests for rectification to ADOR. However, ADOR consistently responded with avoidance and excuses," the members stated. They added, "It is clear that true communication, based on mutual respect, has not been achieved due to ADOR's actions."

The members further explained their efforts to seek resolution: "In our rectification requests, we specified the actions we required ADOR to take. However, ADOR failed to make any progress within the stipulated time frame, and as the rectification period approached its end, it became physically impossible for them to comply." They dismissed ADOR's claim that the group did not wait for their response, calling it "nothing more than wordplay."

The five members formally notified ADOR of the termination of their exclusive contract. "This termination notice adheres to the terms of our exclusive contract. All five of us personally signed the termination document, which took effect immediately upon its delivery to ADOR on November 29, 2024. From that moment, the exclusive contract ceased to exist. Therefore, we have no reason to file an injunction to terminate the contract, and we have been free to pursue our activities independently as of November 29, 2024."

The members also addressed concerns about penalties, asserting, "We have consistently fulfilled our obligations as artists under the exclusive contract with ADOR. The termination of this contract is solely due to ADOR's breaches, and therefore, we are not liable for any penalty payments." They emphasized, "We have no intention of causing harm to others as a result of this contract termination. All obligations under agreements made with ADOR prior to the termination will be fulfilled with sincerity."

In their closing remarks, the members explained their decision to leave ADOR: "We can no longer remain with a label that fails to fulfill its basic responsibility of protecting its artists. Continuing this exclusive contract would only bring us severe mental distress." They also expressed the emotional toll of their experience, stating, "We have endured countless hurtful and shocking situations caused by false narratives and media play. We sincerely hope such circumstances will not arise after this contract termination."

They ended their statement with a promise to their fans: "We will continue to do our best to create good music. Please watch over us as we move forward."

Meanwhile, NewJeans departed for Tokyo to attend the Countdown Japan 24/25 event at Makuhari Messe.
