Actors Byun Woo Seok and IU will star together in a romantic drama.

Kakao Entertainment announced on December 2, "The two actors have been confirmed for MBC-TV's new drama '21st Century Grand Prince's Wife' (working title, written by Yoo Ah In)."

'21st Century Grand Prince's Wife' is set in an alternate reality where South Korea is a constitutional monarchy. The story follows a man and a woman overcoming social barriers to nurture their love.

IU will play the role of Sung Hee Joo, the heiress of South Korea's top-ranking conglomerate. Born with a silver spoon, she seemingly has it all, but her commoner status becomes an obstacle when she becomes involved with Grand Prince Lee An.

Anticipation is high for IU's transformative performance. Known for her compelling screen presence, she has previously showcased her acting prowess in dramas like 'My Mister' and 'Hotel Del Luna', as well as the film 'Broker'.

Byun Woo Seok will portray Grand Prince Lee An, the king's second son. Despite his royal status, he is deprived of any true personal freedom. Lee An is a character who has always had to suppress his true self.

Following his acclaimed performance in the drama 'Run Away with Seon Jae', Byun Woo Seok will once again delve into a unique romantic story. Fans are eager to see how he will captivate audiences as a modern-day royal.
