IVE Breaks Another Record Ahead of January Comeback
K-pop group IVE (An Yujin, Gaeul, Rei, Jang Wonyoung, Liz, Leeseo) has added another milestone to their achievements ahead of their January comeback.
According to Starship Entertainment on December 3rd, the music video for IVE's third single album title track, After LIKE, released on August 22, 2022, surpassed 300 million views on YouTube as of December 2.
After LIKE, a mega-hit track blending EDM, pop, and house genres over a kick rhythm foundation, achieved significant success upon its release. The song topped major domestic music platforms like Melon, Genie, Bugs, Flo, VIBE, Korean Spotify, and YouTube Music Korea, securing a "Perfect All-Kill" (PAK). It also swept music show awards, amassing an impressive 14 wins.
Internationally, the track gained traction on Billboard charts, staying on the Billboard Global 200 for 17 weeks (peaking at No. 20) and the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart for 25 consecutive weeks (peaking at No. 9), proving IVE's global popularity.
The music video for After LIKE gained attention for its outstanding visuals and concept, directed by the renowned Nosangyoon and featuring top-tier production team FASICOM. Known for its spectacular firework effects, the video achieved a cinematic scale, showcasing the members' stunning visuals and unique symbolic color-themed styling, which resonated with fans worldwide.
Even two years post-release, the song continues to be loved for its addictive melody and bold Gen Z message. Lyrics like, "Do you know what my strength is? Being honest!" have inspired countless parodies and challenges on social media and various TV programs, making it a cultural phenomenon.
Meanwhile, IVE successfully wrapped up a world tour spanning 37 shows in 28 cities across 19 countries this year and is gearing up for their highly anticipated comeback in January 2024.
