Actor Lee Min Ho brings a heartfelt story set in the mysterious realm of space.
tvN's upcoming weekend drama When the Stars Gossip (written by Seo Sook Hyang, directed by Park Shin Woo) revealed character stills and details about Lee Min Ho's role as Gong Ryong on December 5.
Lee Min Ho takes on the role of Gong Ryong, an obstetrician who is also the future son-in-law of a powerful conglomerate, MZ Group. Before his wedding, he embarks on a space tourism adventure, spending time at a space station where he must complete a covert mission.
Describing his character, Lee Min Ho shared, "Gong Ryong lives an ordinary life but possesses unique convictions and an obsession with life that some may not understand."
He added, "His determination to fulfill what's been entrusted to him is endearing. His passion, honesty, and loyalty in the face of life and death come across unfiltered, making his raw sincerity an undeniable charm."
The actor was drawn to the story's purity and its exploration of the unknown. "In today's fast-paced world, where what's right and what truly matters to humanity grows increasingly ambiguous, this narrative set in the pure, uncharted realm of space felt compelling," he explained.
He further elaborated, "The story of people realizing the preciousness of life in the vastness of space resonated with me deeply, prompting my decision to join the project."
Lee Min Ho emphasized the emotional depth of Gong Ryong, saying, "The stronger his resolve to protect what matters most, the wider the range of emotions and expressions that Gong Ryong can convey."
He also highlighted the visual and thematic appeal of the drama. "With space as the backdrop, viewers can experience the unique atmosphere and expansiveness of zero gravity through the screen. I hope they can relax and enjoy the journey alongside us."
When the Stars Gossip depicts life beyond Earth, centering on boss Eve (played by Gong Hyo Jin), who manages a space station, and the uninvited guest Gong Ryong, who arrives with a secret mission.
The drama is set to premiere on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at 9:20 p.m. on tvN.
