According to Kakao Entertainment's Data Lab, a Melon music big data analysis report released on December 12, IU's "Love Wins All" emerged as the most liked song from January 1 to November 12, 2024, with over 64,000 likes. The track also recorded the highest number of listeners, showcasing its universal appeal across a wide audience.
G-Dragon's new song "POWER", released after a seven-year hiatus, set a record for the fastest time to reach 100,000 likes, reflecting his enduring popularity and the public's passionate support.
aespa's "Supernova", which won seven awards including three grand prizes at the Melon Music Awards (MMA) 2024, held a spot in Melon's Top 10 chart for the longest duration this year, highlighting its immense love from fans.
These milestones underscore the influence and impact of these artists in shaping Korea's music landscape in 2024.
Melon's "Hall of Fame", a space honoring prestigious milestones by artists, highlighted 46 albums this year that achieved 1 million streams within 24 hours of release, earning the title of "Million Albums". This represents just 0.0058% of all albums released this year. Additionally, 111 artists entered the "Billions Club" by surpassing 1 billion cumulative streams.
Among these records,PLAVE's mini-album "ASTERUM: 134-1" set the year's fastest milestone, surpassing 1 million streams in just 4 hours and 10 minutes after its release. The album also achieved the highest 24-hour streaming record of the year with 6.04 million streams, solidifying PLAVE's position as not only a leading virtual idol but also a major representative of K-pop.
aespa added three "Million Albums" to their record this year, becoming the only active artist to achieve this feat in 2024. Rapper Lee Youngji's mini-album "16 Fantasy" drew attention with its dramatic achievement of 1.01 million streams just 10 minutes before the 24-hour deadline, clocking in at 23 hours and 50 minutes.
In the "Billions Club", Lim Young Woong reached the highest honor of the Diamond Badge, awarded for surpassing 10 billion cumulative streams. He is the second artist in Melon's history to achieve this after BTS. Additionally, Lim Young Woong topped the charts as the most-streamed artist of the year, amassing over 1.9 billion streams.
The most frequently selected track by Melon DJs this year was DAY6's "Time of Our Life". This song resonated strongly with DJs, showcasing its timeless appeal.
In the DJ Playlist, which reflects Melon users' musical preferences, the most-played K-pop track was Sung Si-kyung's "Every Moment of You", an OST from the hit drama "My Love from the Star". Its enduring popularity highlights its emotional connection with listeners.
For pop music, Charlie Puth's "I Don't Think That I Like Her" topped the list as the most-listened-to pop track.
