Singer and actor Ong Seong-wu has taken part in a heartfelt initiative to help children in need.
On December 16, the Korean Committee for UNICEF (Chairman Jung Gap-young) announced, "We plan to launch the 'Gifts of Life' campaign with Ong Seong-wu."
The Gifts of Life campaign allows donors to select relief items—nutrition, water sanitation, or education—that UNICEF then delivers to children in need.
This year's campaign will feature the "Ong Seong-wu Package," themed as a gift shop for children's happiness during winter. It includes therapeutic food for malnourished children, blankets, and notebooks.
Ong shared his reason for joining the campaign, stating, "I wanted to share the love and gratitude I've received from my fans in a more meaningful way."
He also conveyed a warm message, saying, "I hope this can bring even a little happiness to children around the world, helping them have a better winter."
This isn't the first time Ong has participated in a campaign like this. In 2021, he donated his talent and also made a personal financial contribution to the same initiative.
A representative said, "Ong Seong-wu has always shown genuine care for children. Following his return from military service, he has rejoined us in continuing this warm-hearted journey."
Jo Mi-jin, Secretary General of UNICEF Korea, expressed her gratitude, saying, "We deeply thank Ong Seong-wu for dedicating his time and talent despite his busy schedule."
She added, "Children worldwide are enduring cold winters alone due to war, disasters, and other hardships. This campaign will provide them with much-needed strength and hope."
The organization called for public support, saying, "We encourage everyone to participate in the 'Ong Seong-wu Package' to bring joy and warmth to children this winter."
