IVE's Jang Wonyoung to Host 2024 Year-End Awards as "MZ Generation Icon"
Jang Wonyoung, member of IVE and a celebrated icon among the MZ generation, will serve as an MC for the 2024 KBS Song Festival Global Festival on December 20, held at Ilsan KINTEX. This marks her third consecutive year hosting the event.
The KBS Song Festival Global Festival has expanded into a more globally focused event since last year. This year's festival spans performances in Japan (December 14–15) and Korea (December 20), with Jang Wonyoung hosting the Korean stage.
Having previously served as MC for KBS Music Bank from October 2021 to January 2023, Jang has demonstrated her exceptional hosting skills. She has also hosted the 2022 KBS Song Festival and the 2023 Music Bank Global Festival, making her a trusted figure for KBS's year-end stages.
Jang's influence extends beyond her hosting duties. Her coined phrases like "Wonyoung's way of thinking" and "Lucky Vicky" (using her English name, Vicky) have set trends, embraced by fans, artists, and even companies. Her presence in short-form content has captivated global fans, showcasing her impeccable visuals, expressive performances, and versatility.
In her primary role as a musician, Jang has contributed as a lyricist to IVE's songs, including "Mine," "Shine With Me,"and "OTT." She independently wrote the lyrics for "Blue Heart," a track from IVE's second EP "IVE SWITCH" released in April. She also participated in IVE's world tour, performing in 19 countries over 37 shows for a total audience of 420,000. Her standout performances at global festivals like Lollapalooza Chicago and Summer Sonic 2024 further solidify her artistry.
Following the 2024 KBS Song Festival, Jang will also host the 9th Asia Artist Awards (AAA 2024) on December 27.
