ILLIT to Perform and Celebrate Award at Japan's Prestigious Record Awards
The group ILLIT (YunAh, Minju, Moka, Wonhee, Iroha) is set to deliver a performance at Japan's most prestigious music awards, the "Japan Record Awards," following their achievement of winning a major honor.
According to their agency, Belif Lab, on December 19, ILLIT will perform their debut track, "Magnetic," during the live broadcast of the 66th "Shining! Japan Record Awards" on TBS at 5:30 PM on December 30.
"Magnetic" made a significant impact in Japan this year, dominating multiple metrics. The song ranked fifth on YouTube Japan's "Shorts Top Songs of the Year" and was included in the winners' list of the "LINE Music Trend Awards 2024"—the only K-pop song to achieve such recognition among local hits. It also secured the highest spot for a K-pop song, ranking 15th on Billboard Japan's "Hot 100" annual chart.
ILLIT had already made headlines on November 21 when they were announced as recipients of the New Artist Award, becoming the first K-pop girl group in 13 years to achieve this honor at the "Japan Record Awards." Notably, they are the first group to win the award prior to an official debut in Japan.
The Japan Record Awards, organized by the Japan Composer's Association, is a historic and prestigious music awards ceremony established in 1959. The event is broadcast live annually on December 30 via TBS, symbolizing a major milestone in the Japanese music industry.
