Squid Game 2 Flooded with International Praise

Netflix's original drama Squid Game Season 2 is receiving rave reviews from international media, with critics praising Lee Jung-jae's explosive acting.

Ayush Sharma, a writer for The Daily List and a film critic, recently wrote "Squid Game Season 2 delves deeper into human psychology while successfully raising the stakes. Its plot seamlessly connects thrilling action sequences with psychological games. Lee Jung-jae is outstanding—he's bigger and better."

Ashley, a writer for WeCineNet and Whats-on-Netflix, similarly stated "Squid Game Season 2 marks the triumphant return of Netflix's most popular drama. The new cast is phenomenal, and Lee Jung-jae delivers another masterful performance. There are plenty of jaw-dropping action sequences. It was worth the wait. Prepare to be amazed."

MPA-certified entertainment journalist Rama also expressed admiration, commenting "Squid Game Season 2 is far crazier than the first. It's packed with vengeance-driven action, and some moments, like the 'Deer Hunter' reference, leave viewers on edge. Lee Jung-jae delivers a compelling, intense performance."

Ahead of its December 26 release, both domestic and international press who previewed the series have consistently praised its quality, increasing anticipation. Season 1 was a global phenomenon, creating a social and cultural craze while also becoming the most profitable series in Netflix history. Though initially not planned, the overwhelming demand for a sequel led to Season 2's production, despite early skepticism.

The wave of positive critical reactions has transformed initial concerns into soaring expectations. Lee Jung-jae, who anchored the narrative in Season 1, has once again impressed critics with his portrayal of a more multifaceted and complex character. His commanding performance not only grounds the show but also conveys the core messages of the season, placing him at the center of the praise.

Reflecting the anticipation, Squid Game Season 2 has already achieved recognition before its release, earning a nomination for Best TV Drama at the upcoming Golden Globes on January 5. Lee Jung-jae made history in 2022 when he won the Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor and received a Golden Globe nomination for his performance in Season 1. While he is not individually nominated this year, the Best Drama nomination underscores the series' enduring global impact.

Artist Company, the management agency representing Lee Jung-jae, is on the verge of merging with Artist United, an entity with strong production and distribution capabilities. This move signals the company's ambitions to expand in the entertainment sector. Lee Jung-jae, who also debuted as a director with the critically acclaimed film Hunt, has gained recognition at prominent international film festivals. His ongoing projects are expected to energize South Korea's production market, which has seen a slowdown in recent years.

With the anticipation surrounding Squid Game Season 2 and Lee Jung-jae's rising global profile, the Korean entertainment industry is poised for another breakthrough on the global stage.
