BTS's Jimin's "Who" has been chosen as the representative K-pop song of 2024, shining brightly with global popularity.
The title track "Who" from Jimin's second solo album MUSE was selected as the "Biggest Impact" in the 2024 K-pop Yearbook released by the American music magazine Consequence of Sound (COS).
The outlet stated, "Listing all of 'Who's achievements would take all day. This song was the most-streamed track by a K-pop artist on Spotify this year and the longest-charting solo track by a Korean artist on the Billboard 'Hot 100' in the past decade," adding, "The shockwaves created by Jimin's work have resonated widely."
Released in July, Jimin's Who debuted at No. 14 on the Billboard main singles chart "Hot 100" in its first week. After several resurgences, the track climbed to No. 43 on the December 21 chart, marking 21 consecutive weeks on the chart. This achievement set a decade-long record as the longest-charting solo track by a K-pop artist.
On Spotify, the world's largest music streaming platform, Who surpassed 1 billion streams in just 118 days after its release, breaking the record for the fastest male solo artist to achieve this milestone. On December 16, it went on to exceed 1.2 billion streams, setting another record for the fastest K-pop song to reach this figure.
This success carried over to Spotify's 2024 Wrapped campaign, where Who was named the "Global Top K-pop Song of the Year." It dominated the year-end charts as the most-streamed K-pop song worldwide in 2024.
Meanwhile, the outlet previously praised Who, saying, "One of the many factors that make Jimin a captivating performer is his broad spectrum." It highlighted how "modern dance, ballet, and the hip-hop vibe of BTS tracks come together in perfect balance, making him a mesmerizing presence on stage." The review also noted, "Jimin delivers powerful and confident vocals while flawlessly executing intense choreography from start to finish," lauding his exceptional artistry.
