Singer-Actor Ong Seong-wu Shares Thoughts on Military Discharge
On December 23, Ong Seong-wu appeared as a guest on SBS PowerFM's "Park Ha-seon's Cine Town" alongside Kim Ji-eun to promote the animated film "Niko: Beyond the Northern Lights," where they both debuted as voice actors.
Having completed his mandatory military service in October, Ong was asked by a listener if he had experienced the common dream of returning to the army. He replied, "I haven't had that dream yet, but sometimes I find myself thinking, 'What would I be doing right now if I were still in the unit?'"
Host Park Ha-seon joked, "You'll dream about it soon," recalling her own experience after participating in the military reality show "Real Men," which drew laughter.
When asked if he noticed any changes after serving, Ong said, "Before I went, I wondered if I'd change a lot, but honestly, not much has changed. People around me often say I'm just the same. The only difference is that I've returned as someone in my 30s," he quipped.
Meanwhile, "Niko: Beyond the Northern Lights" is the third installment in the Niko series, beloved for its imaginative storytelling and high-quality animation. The film follows the adventures of Niko, a young reindeer dreaming of joining Santa's Flying Squad, and Stella as they set out to recover Santa's missing sleigh on Christmas Eve. The movie is set to premiere on December 25.
