Netflix series Squid Game Season 2 captivates global subscribers.
Squid Game Season 2 was released on November 26 and has since topped the global charts in the non-English TV category, according to Flix Patrol's latest rankings as of the 29th.
The series scored a perfect 930 points, claiming the number one spot in 93 regions and countries, including South Korea, the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Vietnam, India, Brazil, and Colombia.
The key question remains whether the sequel can surpass the record-breaking success of its predecessor. When Squid Game was first released, it held the global top spot on Flix Patrol for 46 consecutive days.
Netflix's official viewing metrics for Season 2 have not yet been released, as updates occur weekly on Wednesdays. The original Squid Game racked up 2.2 billion hours of watch time, maintaining its status as the platform's all-time number-one series.
Given the high anticipation for the sequel, reactions have been mixed. The New York Times noted, "The slaughter is more stylish, but the story feels stagnant."
On the other hand, Variety praised the season, calling it "more brutal and more expansive," adding that it delivers "an entirely engrossing narrative" and heightens expectations for Season 3.
Similarly, Vogue lauded the sequel, stating, "Squid Game Season 2 introduces new perspectives to the survival game, making it deeper and richer than before."
Meanwhile, Squid Game Season 2 continues the story of the original series, focusing on the intense rivalry between Gi-hun (played by Lee Jung-jae) and the Front Man (played by Lee Byung-hun) as they re-enter the deadly games.
