Singer Jay Park has joined in mourning the victims and families affected by the recent airplane tragedy.
On December 30, More Vision announced, "Jay Park has decided to cancel his performance at the 'CE LA VI TOKYO' countdown party in Japan scheduled for today."
Expressing condolences, the statement added, "We extend our deepest sympathies and condolences to the victims and their families affected by this tragic airplane accident. May the departed rest in peace."
Jay Park also addressed fans on social media, explaining, "To honor the victims of the recent Jeju Air accident, I have decided to cancel the performance." He expressed heartfelt condolences, saying, "My thoughts are with those affected by this heartbreaking tragedy and their families." His agency asked for fans' understanding.
The South Korean government has declared a national mourning period until January 4, following the Jeju Air tragedy on December 29 at Muan Airport, which resulted in 179 fatalities and two injuries.
The entertainment industry is also participating in the mourning. Major broadcasters have canceled year-end awards and music festivals, while artists have postponed concerts and album releases to honor the victims.
