Actor Kim Jung-hyun has extended a belated apology to Girls' Generation member and actor Seohyun.

Recently, reports surfaced online that Kim Jung-hyun apologized to Seohyun during the 2024 KBS Drama Awards held on December 31.

Kim reportedly said, "I've done many things in the past that I deeply regret. It has weighed on me for a long time, and I felt the need to apologize." While his words lacked a direct mention of Seohyun, it was clear his apology was directed at her, who was present as an MC during the event.

Following the news, public opinion turned critical. Comments like, "Why apologize publicly instead of privately?", "This doesn't benefit Seohyun either," "Why did he choose that moment to apologize?", and "It's selfish" reflected widespread disapproval.

The two previously worked together on the 2018 drama Time. At the drama's press conference, Kim faced backlash for rejecting Seohyun's arm and displaying unprofessional behavior. He later left the drama midway, citing health issues.

Staff members from the set also spoke up at the time, stating that Kim showed discomfort during romantic scenes and was seen aggressively wiping his hands with a wet tissue after touching Seohyun's hand. Witnesses recounted Seohyun shedding tears on set after seeing his behavior.

Three years later, the truth behind Kim's behavior was revealed. He was reportedly in a relationship with actor Seo Ye-ji, who allegedly demanded changes to the script, sending messages such as "No physical contact," "Be stiff no matter what," and "Remove all skinship scenes." Kim complied, responding, "I didn't even greet female staff. I'm completely stiff with everyone."

As the controversy grew, Kim issued a handwritten apology, stating, "Fragments of my memories from the Time press conference remain vivid. I regret and regret to the point of wanting to undo it all. I sincerely apologize to Seohyun, who was hurt, and to everyone who worked hard on the drama."
