'Squid Game 2' Tops Global Charts for 2 Consecutive Weeks

Netflix's Squid Game Season 2 (directed by Hwang Dong-hyuk) is dominating globally, holding the No. 1 spot for two consecutive weeks.

According to Netflix's latest Top 10 rankings (for the period of December 30 to January 5), Squid Game Season 2 (hereafter Squid Game 2) ranked first in the combined series chart (English and non-English).

During this period, the show recorded a total of 417.1 million viewing hours. Although this was a slight decrease of about 7 million hours compared to the previous week, it remains an overwhelming figure compared to other titles during the same timeframe.

The number of views — calculated by dividing total viewing hours by the show's runtime — nearly doubled from the previous week, reaching 68 million views. In just 11 days since its release, the series has amassed 126.2 million views.

With this achievement, Squid Game 2 has become the second most-watched non-English series in Netflix history. All eyes are now on whether it will surpass the record of the first season, which holds the top spot overall.

The first season's resurgence is also notable. Squid Game Season 1 re-entered Netflix's Global Top 10 TV Shows chart (non-English) at No. 2, sparking a rewatch trend and dominating online discussions.

Meanwhile, Squid Game 2 follows the intense showdown between Gi-hun (played by Lee Jung-jae) and the Front Man (played by Lee Byung-hun) as they re-enter the deadly game. Season 3 is scheduled for release later this year.
