Park Hyung-sik is stepping into uncharted territory with his latest role in SBS's new Fri-Sat drama, Treasure Island.

On February 21, the Treasure Island production team held a press conference at SBS Hall in Yangcheon-gu, Seoul, attended by director Jin Chang-gyu, Park Hyung-sik, Heo Joon-ho, Lee Hae-young, and Hong Hwa-yeon.

Director Jin described the drama as a battle for power, wealth, and survival, saying, "It's a war between people chasing their personal treasures—whether it's money, politics, or love. The story revolves around an intense battle to seize control of a conglomerate."

💼 Park Hyung-sik's Boldest Role Yet

Park plays Seo Dong-joo, the external affairs director at Daesan Group. On the surface, he is a dedicated corporate man, but his real goal is to seize the company for himself. He carefully conceals his ruthless ambition while working behind the scenes to manipulate political slush funds.

"I've always played warm, righteous characters," Park explained. "But Seo Dong-joo doesn't hide his greed—he fully embraces it. This role will show a side of me that no one has seen before."

💥 The Physical & Emotional Toll

Bringing Seo Dong-joo to life was no easy task. Park immersed himself in the role for a year, navigating the intense mental and physical challenges of the character.

"It wasn't just physically demanding, but emotionally exhausting as well. The psychological warfare between the characters was incredibly intense," he recalled. "There were moments when I thought, 'I didn't know I was capable of feeling such emotions.' But thanks to the team, I was able to push through."

One of the drama's biggest highlights is the rivalry between Seo Dong-joo (Park Hyung-sik) and Yom Jang-seon (Heo Joon-ho), a hidden powerhouse behind Daesan Group.

Park described his first face-off with Heo Joon-ho: "The moment we locked eyes, I felt chills—like a cat with its fur standing on end. His energy was overwhelming, and I learned so much from him."
