SEVENTEEN's Hoshi and Woozi have shared their thoughts on forming a new unit together.
On March 10 at 6 PM KST, the duo will release their first single album, 'BEAM'. This album embodies originality and self-love, with both Hoshi and Woozi actively participating in the production process, including the title track 'Same Age' (Donggapnaegi).
The synergy between the two is particularly noteworthy, as both were born in 1996 and have been close friends since their trainee days. Hoshi leads the Performance Team, while Woozi heads the Vocal Team, making them a perfectly balanced duo.
In their music video teasers for 'Same Age', released on March 8 and 9, the pair showcased their genuine friendship through high-fives and playful choreography, further heightening anticipation for their release.
🎤 Hoshi & Woozi Share Their Thoughts on 'BEAM'
Q. How does it feel to release 'BEAM'?
Hoshi: Woozi and I have been inseparable since we were young. We've always talked about doing a unit project together someday, and now that it's finally happening with 'BEAM,' I feel really excited. Since this album is filled with the kind of music we wanted to create, I plan to fully enjoy performing on stage.
Woozi: It's a joy to release an album with the closest friend in my life. We had so much fun working on it, and I think that energy made the album feel even more genuine.
Q. What kind of song is 'Same Age'?
Hoshi: The moment I heard it, I thought, "This is so us!" Woozi and I always dance around whenever we hear a song we love, and we worked on this track with that same love for music in mind.
Q. How did the collaboration with So!YoON! come about?
Woozi: When we were working on the first track, 'PINOCCHIO (feat. So!YoON!)', we thought that having a unique female vocalist would add something special. So we reached out to So!YoON!, and she was incredibly open to it and made the process smooth and quick. I'd like to thank her again for being part of this project.
Q. Did you discover anything new about each other while working on 'BEAM'?
Hoshi: Everyone knows Woozi is an incredible producer, but he's also an amazing dancer. He's what I'd call a "hexagonal idol"—good at everything! For this comeback, I'll make sure to bring out that side of him. Personally, I want to show a more free-spirited, music-loving version of myself, different from my recent promotions with BSS.
Woozi: I think we've known each other too long to discover anything new! Everything I saw while making this album was already familiar. I don't think I have any particularly unique traits either. There were moments when I felt a bit shy and pressured, but in the end, I just did my best as always.
Q. What do you think you did best in 'BEAM'?
Hoshi: The album photos came out really well. I'd like to thank the staff for capturing everything so perfectly. My face? I did a great job there, too.
Woozi: I think we should acknowledge the fact that we had so much fun making this album. Since this is something I created with my best friend, I hope we're left with only good memories.
Q. What's the greatest trait you admire in each other?
Hoshi: Woozi has this unwavering determination—when he gets into something, he stays completely focused on it. He's always wise and rational, and his way of making decisions has taught me a lot.
Woozi: To me, Hoshi is the definition of a superstar. His energy and passion play a huge role in pushing me forward and keeping me motivated.
Q. Since your trainee days, has there been a moment that made you love or trust yourself more?
Hoshi:CARATs. Seeing how they believe in me—even more than I believe in myself—has been my greatest source of strength.
Woozi: When the members need me, I realize how much trust they place in me. Those moments are like my own personal beam of light.
Q. How did the SEVENTEEN members react to 'BEAM'?
Hoshi: We played the songs for them, and they loved it. They said it was even better than expected and told us to go out there and "tear up the stage."
Q. A message to CARATs waiting for 'BEAM'?
Hoshi: The light you've given us—we want to shine it back onto you. I hope our music and performances bring you even a little happiness. Please support 'BEAM'!
Woozi: CARATs, I hope you're always happy and healthy. ♥
