Yoo Ah-in's previously filmed projects are making their way to theaters one by one. Following The Match, the long-delayed comedy-action film Hi.5 is gearing up for release.
⚡ Superpowers, Action, and Laughs – All in One Movie
According to film distributor NEW, Hi.5 is currently preparing for release, with June as a possible target. "The exact date is still being finalized," a rep told Dispatch on April 4.
Hi.5 is a comedic superhero film about five ordinary people who accidentally gain superpowers—and find themselves in a wild battle against those trying to steal their powers. The film is directed by Kang Hyoung-chul, known for Sunny and Swing Kids.
🚫 Yoo Ah-in's Promotion Activities Removed
Though Yoo Ah-in stars in the film, he will not be involved in any promotions. This comes in the wake of his legal case involving drug-related charges. Earlier this year, he was sentenced to one year in prison with a two-year suspended sentence.
A NEW representative stated, "Yoo Ah-in will not participate in any press or promotional schedules related to Hi.5."
📈 'The Match' Set the Precedent
This mirrors the approach taken for The Match, which also starred Yoo Ah-in. Despite no editing or promotion involving the actor, the film topped the Korean box office for nine consecutive days, proving strong storytelling can still shine.
Stay tuned to see whether Hi.5 can follow in the footsteps of its predecessor and win over audiences with its unique blend of humor and superhuman thrills.
