Irene & Seulgi Are Back! Red Velvet Unit Drops New Mini Album in May

5 years after 'Monster'—Irene & Seulgi return with next-level charisma

Irene and Seulgi of Red Velvet are officially making their unit comeback next month. SM Entertainment confirmed on April 11, "Irene & Seulgi will release a new mini album this May. Please look forward to it."

👑 The Return of Red Velvet's Power Duo

This marks the pair's first comeback in 5 years. Irene & Seulgi debuted as Red Velvet's first subunit in July 2020 with their mini album Monster, gaining massive buzz for its bold concept and fierce performance energy.

They followed it up with Naughty, which went viral thanks to its intricate tutting choreography — securing their rep as Red Velvet's ultimate performance duo.

🎵 What They've Been Up To

Since their last unit activities, Red Velvet has dropped a series of hits including:

  • Queendom
  • Feel My Rhythm
  • Birthday
  • Chill Kill
  • Cosmic

Meanwhile, both idols have pursued solo careers.

  • Irene released her solo debut mini album Like A Flower in December 2024, showcasing soft vocals with emotional depth.
  • Seulgi followed up with her second mini album Accidentally On Purpose in March 2025, continuing to evolve as a solo artist.

✅ No Changes to Group Activities

Although Red Velvet members Yeri and Wendy recently parted ways with SM Entertainment, the group will continue promotions as five. SM has confirmed that Red Velvet remains intact as a team.

Get ready — Irene & Seulgi are about to shake things up again this May!
