Baek Jong-won Pushes Ahead With Broadcast Activities Despite Controversies

Despite facing multiple controversies, Baek Jong-won, CEO of The Born Korea, is staying true to his "my way" approach in the entertainment world.

🎥 Baek Jong-won Returns for 'Black & White Chef 2' on Netflix

Baek recently participated in the filming of Netflix's Black & White Chef: Culinary Class Wars Season 2 as a judge, continuing his role from Season 1.

Netflix confirmed to Dispatch on April 28 that the series will be released in the second half of 2025 across 190 countries worldwide.

🍚 'Backstreet Rookie 3' Also on Track — Overseas Filming Spotted

tvN's Backstreet Rookie 3 (장사천재 백사장3) is also aiming for a release later this year.

Baek was recently spotted in France wearing an apron with the show's logo, busy preparing food ingredients.

The production team explained, "Due to the nature of overseas filming, schedules are proceeding as planned," but added that the exact broadcast date remains "undecided."

👀 Public Reaction: Skepticism Grows Over Baek's "My Way"

Public opinion has become increasingly critical.

Despite ongoing legal issues, Baek continues to appear on television — a move that contrasts sharply with how other celebrities typically handle scandals.

Baek and his company, The Born Korea, have been embroiled in several controversies, including allegations of violating agricultural and construction laws, and accusations of mislabeling food origins.

The company also received official correction orders from local authorities.

For example, Gangnam District Office ordered the revision of misleading advertising regarding shrimp labeling in promotional materials.

🙇 Baek Jong-won's Apologies and Promises

Baek Jong-won has issued two public apologies.

At the company's first-ever shareholder meeting last month, he bowed his head and pledged to establish a direct internal audit team to restore trust.

Meanwhile, the MBC-TV show Chef of Antarctica featuring Baek has postponed its airing schedule, citing complications related to an early presidential election.
