Director Hong Sang-soo has been named a jury member for the 78th Cannes Film Festival's Main Competition, joining an elite list of Korean filmmakers to earn the honor.

On April 28, Cannes Film Festival organizers announced the 9-member international jury for its prestigious competition section. Korean auteur Hong Sang-soo was included alongside celebrated names such as:

🇰🇷 Hong Sang-soo: Korea's Sixth Cannes Juror
Hong is now the sixth Korean to serve as a Cannes juror, following Shin Sang-ok, Lee Chang-dong, Park Chan-wook, Song Kang-ho, and Jeon Do-yeon.
The festival noted its long relationship with Hong:
"He has remained true to his signature minimal and intimate style, continually evolving with each project. His 2017 film Claire's Camera was even shot in Cannes."
🎞 Cannes Regular: 12 Films & Counting
Hong Sang-soo is no stranger to Cannes. Since his 1998 debut at the festival with The Power of Kangwon Province, 12 of his films have been screened, including:

🔍 No Korean Films in Main Competition This Year
This year's Cannes lineup includes no Korean feature films in its main competition. However, animation Glasses by Jung Yoo-mi was invited to the Critics' Week, and Heo Ga-young's short film First Summer will screen in the La Cinef section.
