143 Entertainment Responds: "Large Settlement Demanded"
🚨 Former Idol Accuses CEO of Sexual Misconduct
A former girl group member, referred to as "A," has filed a sexual assault complaint against CEO Lee of 143 Entertainment.
At a press conference held by the Hanbit Media Labor Rights Center on April 29, it was revealed that A recently filed a complaint with the Gangnam Police Department, citing violations of the Act on the Protection of Children and Youth against Sexual Offenses.
🧏♀️ Victim's Mother Speaks Out: "We Ignored Her Cries for Help"
A's mother attended the conference and said, "What began as seemingly light physical contact became increasingly burdensome after my daughter graduated from high school. When she asked him to stop touching her, he retaliated with disadvantages."
She continued tearfully, "My child sent multiple signals asking for help, but we failed to act. As a result, she had to endure unimaginable experiences."
📜 Evidence Includes a Handwritten Apology
Attorney Moon Hyo-jung, representing A, stated, "This case involves a company CEO sexually assaulting a minor member, while justifying his actions by claiming there was no coercion."
Hanbit Center explained that the incident occurred in October 2023 when A was summoned to the company office. During a three-hour meeting, Lee allegedly subjected her to verbal abuse, intimidation, and inappropriate physical contact.
As evidence, A's side submitted a handwritten letter from CEO Lee, reading: "I sincerely apologize for sexually harassing A" and "I will prioritize A in any contract extensions or related matters."
🎙️ 143 Entertainment Denies Allegations, Cites "Distorted Claims"
Shortly after the press conference, 143 Entertainment issued an official statement, saying,
"Many of the claims made by A's side are factually inaccurate. However, since the case is under police investigation, we will correct the distorted parts through proper legal proceedings."
Regarding the timing of the complaint, the company added,
"It is regrettable that after demanding a large financial settlement—which we rejected—the member proceeded to file a police complaint six months after the alleged incident."
143 Entertainment concluded, "We hope the truth will be fully revealed through the investigation. We are prepared to accept all legal consequences based on the court's judgment."
