Former WINNER member Nam Tae-hyun (31) has once again been booked for drunk driving, this time while still serving a suspended sentence for drug-related charges.
🚔 Second DUI While on Probation
According to Seoul Yongsan Police on May 8, Nam was caught driving under the influence at approximately 4:10 AM on April 27 near Dongjak Bridge, heading toward Ilsan on Seoul's Gangbyeonbuk-ro.
While attempting to overtake another vehicle, he crashed into the center divider. His blood alcohol level at the time exceeded 0.08%, the legal limit for license cancellation. Thankfully, no one was injured.
⚖️ Police Filed for Arrest Warrant—But Court Denied
Given that the incident occurred during his probation period for a prior drug conviction, police filed a request for a detention warrant on May 2. However, the court rejected the warrant after a hearing on May 7, citing insufficient grounds for detention.
A Yongsan Police representative told Dispatch,
"We plan to forward Nam Tae-hyun's case to prosecutors without detention."
💊 Previous Drug Conviction & DUI Record
Nam Tae-hyun was sentenced to 1 year in prison, suspended for 2 years, in January 2023 for violating the Narcotics Control Act. He was convicted of using methamphetamine in August 2022 with his then-girlfriend Seo Min-jae (a.k.a. Seo Eun-woo).
During his period of self-reflection, he was also fined 6 million KRW for a 2023 DUI case, where he was found to have driven 5–10 meters while intoxicated.
🎤 Comeback Cancelled
Nam Tae-hyun had been scheduled to perform on May 6 at the K-pop Week in Hongdae Festival, but canceled the appearance on May 4—just days before the show.
