Best known for hits like Scandal Makers, Sunny, and Swing Kids, Kang Hyoung-chul is back after a 7-year hiatus — this time with a quirky twist on the superhero genre. In High Five, ordinary people like a taekwondo coach and a neighborhood yogurt seller suddenly gain supernatural abilities. Even a shady cult leader joins the mix, adding extra flavor.
"Back in the day, there were always feel-good movies at the video store. High Five has that same vibe," said Director Kang.

🕵️♂️ Postponed by Scandal: The Backstory Behind the Delayed Release
Originally set to release in 2023, the film was delayed due to Yoo Ah-in's drug scandal. Yoo plays "Gi-dong," a hipster slacker who gains the ability to see electromagnetic waves. "It was unfortunate," said Director Kang. "But I felt a duty to complete the work for all the other brilliant cast members."
Kang confirmed that Yoo's scenes were largely untouched in the final cut.
