MIAO is back—and they're bolder, brighter, and ready to push boundaries.

Known for their signature cat-like concept, the rookie girl group continues to prove their versatility by crossing genre lines in their new mini album. From hip-hop to sentimental pop, MY EYES OPEN WWIDE showcases MIAO's wide-ranging sound and color.

"Our goal is to make every concept our own. That's the MIAO way," said member Gawon.

💿 New Album, Open Vision — 'MY EYES OPEN WWIDE'

MIAO held a media showcase on May 12 at SBS Prism Tower in Seoul to celebrate the release of their first mini album, MY EYES OPEN WWIDE.

The album includes 6 tracks—previous releases "MIAO," "Body," and "Toxic," plus three brand new songs: "Hands Up," "Drop Top," and "Lit Right Now."

"This comeback is super special for us," Anna shared. "We've been preparing these tracks since our trainee days, and it feels so meaningful to finally release them."

YG's hitmaker Teddy led the production. "He told us, 'Do as much as you want to achieve great results,' and that really motivated us," Anna added.

Ella said, "While working on this album, I discovered so much about myself. I think I've finally figured out how to shine on stage."

🎶 Title Track 'Drop Top' — A New, Brighter Side of MIAO

"Drop Top" is the title track, blending soft emotional beginnings with a refreshing burst of rock-inspired energy in the chorus. It's MIAO's brightest track to date.

Soo-in described it as "a perfect road trip song—great for lifting your spirits when you're feeling stuck or anxious."

Gawon participated in the songwriting. "The message is simple: 'Enjoy this moment—it's precious.' I thought of our members as I wrote it," she said.

Unlike their previous hard-hitting choreo, "Drop Top" leans into laid-back vibes. "The moves are easy to follow," Narin said, "like turning the steering wheel or drawing stars in the air."

💬 'Lit Right Now' — Their Trainee Days in a Song

The track "Lit Right Now" stands out with its rhythm-heavy R&B flavor and smooth vocals. "It's a song that makes you feel calm and happy," said Narin.

Gawon and Narin co-wrote the lyrics during their trainee period. "We were just talking one day, and the words started flowing naturally," Gawon recalled.

Narin added, "I imagined a road trip—freedom, excitement, and the hope of doing what we love. That feeling is at the heart of the lyrics."

💫 From Black Cat to Rainbow Vibes — MIAO's Next Chapter

Just 8 months since debut, MIAO has already explored various musical identities—from the edgy debut "MIAO" to the emotional "Toxic," and now the bright "Drop Top."

"We started out like cool, black cats," Narin said. "But now, I want us to be colorful cats—showing many different hues and sides of ourselves."

"We want to be 'one of a kind,'" Gawon added. "Our dream is to grow into artists who are truly unique and irreplaceable."

MIAO has also been praised for their strong live vocals. "We try to channel explosive energy on stage," Gawon explained. "We want our love for performing to reach the audience."

Finally, Soo-in said, "Thank you so much for the love you gave 'Hands Up.' We hope you enjoy 'Drop Top' just as much!"
