Oh Jung-se Joins 'Hi.5' Cast as a Super-Dad Without Superpowers

Oh Jung-se is taking on a whole new kind of hero—one powered by pure fatherly love.

👨‍👧 From Taekwondo Champion to Overprotective Dad

Distributor NEW confirmed on May 14 that Oh Jung-se has joined the cast of Hi.5, directed by Kang Hyoung-chul (Scandal Makers, Sunny). He'll play Jong-min, a former national Taekwondo athlete and now a dojang owner who lives and breathes for his daughter Wanseo (played by Lee Jae-in).

Even after Wanseo undergoes a heart transplant, Jong-min can't stop worrying about her. Late nights, lies, and small changes send him into panic mode—he's the textbook definition of a "girl dad."

💬 Oh Jung-se on His Role:

"I didn't want him to come across as overbearing. I tried to show their father-daughter dynamic in a warm, lovable way."

The Real MVP in a Superpowered Story

Though his character has no supernatural abilities, director Kang says, "Jong-min actually has the greatest power in Hi.5—his love."

Lee Jae-in, who plays Wanseo, praised Oh's warmth on set: "He really looked after me like a real dad. I even called him 'Dad' sometimes."

🎭 A New Side of Oh Jung-se

Known for quirky roles like Noh Gyu-tae in When the Camellia Blooms and Yeom Byung-chul in When Life Gives You Tangerines, Oh is set to deliver a deeper, more emotional performance this time around.

🎬 About the Film
Hi.5 tells the story of five organ transplant recipients who suddenly develop superpowers—and what happens when those powers attract the wrong kind of attention.

The film hits theaters on May 30.
