Lee Jae-wook is stepping into mystery, romance, and historical drama—all at once—with his latest Netflix series Tangeum.
🎬 New Role: A Lost Heir With No Memories
In Tangeum, Lee Jae-wook plays Hongrang, the long-lost son of the most powerful merchant family in Joseon. After mysteriously disappearing as a child, he returns 12 years later—with no memory of who he once was.
Things get complicated when he crosses paths with his half-sister Jae-yi (played by Jo Bo-ah), who suspects something isn't quite right. Though they look alike and even share similar mannerisms, a web of doubt, tension—and unexpected emotions—begins to build between them.
🎭 A Complex Character with Action and Emotion
Lee Jae-wook delivers a layered performance, portraying Hongrang's internal chaos and fear with sensitivity and nuance. From subtle emotional shifts to intense action scenes, he brings the character's duality to life.
📺 From Fantasy Hits to Period Drama
Since debuting in Memories of the Alhambra (2018), Lee Jae-wook has showcased his acting range in Extraordinary You, Alchemy of Souls, and Death's Game. With Tangeum, he once again challenges himself with a new genre and character dynamic.
His agency commented, "Lee Jae-wook has continued to expand his acting spectrum across genres. Please look forward to his transformation into Hongrang."
💔 A Story of Family, Suspicion, and Forbidden Emotion
Tangeum tells the haunting tale of estranged siblings reuniting after over a decade, only to find themselves entangled in mystery, identity, and forbidden feelings.
The series is set to premiere on May 16 at 4 PM KST, exclusively on Netflix.
