To begin, here's an excerpt from a recorded conversation between A (Son's ex-girlfriend) and B (the second blackmailer):
B (Blackmailer): But do you even know whose baby it is? Do you really know for sure?
A (Ex-Girlfriend): How would I know whose it is...?
B: Then you should've just told Guy 1 or Guy 2—not both. You should've picked just one.
According to the audio obtained by Dispatch, A had intimate relationships with two men around the same period. In the conversation above, "Guy 1" refers to a businessman. "Guy 2" is Son Heung-min, captain of Korea's national soccer team.
A informed both men of her pregnancy. Guy 1 did not respond. Son did. A then sent Son a pregnancy test result (hCG level: 5,000 mIU/mL), claiming she was 5–6 weeks pregnant.
However, A herself wasn't sure who the father was. (She stated that she believed it was more likely to be Son's.) This uncertainty made B hesitant about launching the second blackmail attempt.
Another excerpt:
B: Didn't you say you contacted both of them?
A: Yes, I did.
B: You told both of them the same thing, not even knowing who the father is? That's marriage fraud. Saying the same thing to both guys? That's what's giving me a headache. I don't even know how to handle this.
◆ Key Figures in the Case
To understand this story, it's important to identify the people involved:
- A (Ex-Girlfriend): 29, female. Works as a freelance commercial model. She met Son through a mutual acquaintance. In May 2024, she was also involved with another man.
- B (Blackmailer): 41, male. Has a prior conviction for attempted extortion. Has tattoos on his upper body. Met A in late 2024 and led the second blackmail attempt.
- C (Shaman): A well-known spiritualist. Predicted A's pregnancy in June. After her prediction proved accurate, A began trusting her deeply. C even accompanied A during her abortion procedure. A reportedly transferred ₩80 million to her.
◆ The Agreement
At its core, this case began with a consensual sexual relationship between Son and A, resulting in an unplanned pregnancy. A requested ₩300 million; Son agreed.
On June 22, A informed Son of a positive pregnancy test (two lines). Two days later, she visited an OB/GYN and received a blood test result showing hCG levels of 5,000 mIU/mL—indicative of 5–6 weeks of pregnancy.
On June 24, A met with Son and his female manager. She had already decided to terminate the pregnancy. She informed them once via text, and again in person: "My decision won't change."
After confirming the money was deposited, she underwent the procedure on June 25.
Afterward, neither A nor Son contacted each other. Their involvement ended—until B entered the picture.
◆ Enter: The Blackmailer
B had a prior conviction for attempted extortion. In December 2024, he was introduced to A by his close friend, C the shaman. That was the beginning of the trouble.
According to B, they began dating in January. He told Dispatch:
"We were planning to get married. I happened to see a confidentiality agreement on A's phone. The penalty clause was 10 times the amount. It seemed unfair. If you offer me ₩20 million, I'll give you all the documents."
B used the same approach to pressure Son's side:
"Didn't Son get my fiancée pregnant? The penalty clause is too harsh—I can't marry her because of it."
◆ Opening Pandora's Box
Son's side did not respond. After all, if A stayed silent, nothing would come of it.
B then changed his tactics—he threatened to expose the confidentiality agreement to the press. He contacted Dispatch.
Son's side refused to revise the agreement. B flipped again, this time offering "evidence" against A and urging Son to sue her for fraud. In return, he demanded ₩70 million.
"We didn't know what caused the fallout between A and B, but suddenly B sent us call logs and messages with A. He claimed he spent ₩80 million keeping A and the shaman quiet, and asked for ₩70 million in return." (Son's rep)
That was when Pandora's box was opened. Son learned shocking truths:
A had been seeing two men at the same time. She wasn't sure who the father was. And she had demanded ₩300 million without hesitation—then swiftly terminated the pregnancy.
◆ Probability of Two Fathers
As with football, probabilities now mattered.
Based on Dispatch's investigation, both "Guy 1" and Son (Guy 2) had a plausible chance of being the father. But only Son responded to A's claims.
Son returned to Korea on May 23 for the World Cup Asian qualifier. At that time, A was in Japan with Guy 1. She came back to Korea on May 30 and contacted Son. The two had time to meet between May 31 and June 1. Son flew to Singapore on June 2.
This overlap is further confirmed in B's recordings, in which he scolds A:
"You didn't even know whose baby it was—how could you tell both men the same thing?"
◆ Rituals and Luxury
Dispatch traced A's movements. She relied heavily on the shaman, C. C was present when A got her pregnancy results, when she messaged Son, and when she had the abortion.
A sent ₩80 million to C—₩30 million for three spiritual rituals, another ₩25 million as an offering to the "Grand Spirit," and ₩25 million more as a token of appreciation.
Following the abortion, A and C went shopping at Galleria Department Store. According to credit card records obtained by B, A spent ₩9.95 million, ₩6.3 million, and ₩2.6 million at luxury boutiques starting June 25.
A also moved into a new home with a ₩50 million deposit and spent significantly on home appliances and furniture. It's believed that she spent most of the ₩300 million within a year.
◆ Conspiracy and Cutoff
Dispatch was able to contact C, the shaman. She said:
"There are many misunderstandings about A. She's been trying to live a quiet life since that day. She never mentioned Son again."
Still, questions remain. Dispatch obtained secret recordings of conversations between A and B. In one, A asks B to revise the confidentiality agreement. In another, B says he'll buy her an apartment if they receive compensation in the billions.
C denied any conspiracy in the second blackmail attempt, calling B's behavior "gaslighting."
"B caused a rift between me and A. We didn't speak for two months. During that time, B used A to execute this plan." (C)
"A was being manipulated. Once she realized it, she tried to stop B. But B didn't back off. He was blackmailing both Son and us." (C)
◆ Time to Press Charges
Son's side also questioned A's claims. The ultrasound image was cropped, missing identifying details. The timeline of intimacy and pregnancy didn't seem to add up.
Still, they didn't argue. Son acknowledged the relationship and accepted responsibility. He agreed to A's terms on the spot.
But B's actions changed things. Son's team decided they could no longer let the threats continue. They chose to face public scrutiny rather than submit to blackmail.
They are now pursuing legal action against A for attempted fraud and extortion.
Meanwhile, C—the shaman—defended A:
"It was B who brought all of this up again. Son is a victim. A only tried to prevent further harm. Please be lenient with her."
