Actor Lee Do-hyun took home the Best New Actor of the Year (Film) award at the 23rd Directors Cut Awards.
🎬 A Night of Recognition
Hosted by the Directors Guild of Korea (DGK) on May 20, the ceremony celebrated excellence across 13 categories. Directors Kim Cho-hee and Bong Man-dae emceed the night.
Lee Do-hyun received the Best New Actor (Film) award for his transformative role as Bong-gil, a rookie shaman, in the hit film Exhuma. His powerful chanting scenes and spiritual depth left a strong impression.
🔥 A Bold On-Screen Transformation
Lee turned heads with a dramatic visual makeover—tattoos covering his body and a tied-back hairstyle. His bold image shift and fearless approach to the supernatural thriller genre captivated viewers.
This marks his second major win, following the Best New Actor (Film) trophy at the 60th Baeksang Arts Awards last year—all while serving in the military. He was discharged just 7 days ago.
🏆 'Exhuma' Dominates the Night
The film Exhuma swept the ceremony with four major awards:
- Lee Do-hyun – Best New Actor (Film)
- Kim Go-eun – Best Actress (Film)
- Jang Jae-hyun – Best Director & Best Screenplay
The Directors Cut Awards are unique in that Korean film directors themselves vote for the nominees and winners, covering both film and series categories.
🌏 Fan Meeting Tour Up Next
Lee Do-hyun will kick off his first Asian fan meeting tour, 'Re: Do-hyun,' on June 14–15 in Seoul at Sungshin Women's University. He'll then visit Jakarta, Osaka, Tokyo, Taipei, Bangkok, Hong Kong, and Manila.
