Actor So Ji-sub's agency, 51K, has issued a public warning about an ongoing scam involving impersonators posing as company managers.
🚨 Scam Tactics: Impersonating Managers
According to 51K on May 21, individuals pretending to be company staff have been attempting to scam restaurants and vendors by exploiting the names of celebrities including So Ji-sub and 2PM's Ok Taec-yeon.
"These individuals request high-end reservations or luxury alcohol deliveries under the pretense of staff gatherings or actor meetups," the company said. "They then cut off all contact, resulting in financial loss for businesses."
📛 No Official Reservations or Orders
51K emphasized that it never uses the names of its actors for third-party reservations, nor does it request purchases or deliveries of any kind. "Any such request is fraudulent," the agency stated.
👮 What to Do If Contacted
"If you receive suspicious messages or calls claiming to be from our company, do not comply, and immediately report them to the police," 51K urged.
⚖️ Legal Action Underway
The agency confirmed that it is aware of the seriousness of the matter and will take strong legal action against those involved in impersonation or fraud.
🛑 Wider Industry Issue
Other celebrities and their agencies—such as Namgoong Min, Ha Jung-woo, Lim Young-woong, and Byeon Woo-seok—have recently faced similar impersonation scams targeting small businesses.
