Kanye West's anticipated concert in Korea has officially been canceled — and his local promoter is pushing back, calling the decision a unilateral breach of contract.
🎤 Promoter Responds: "No Prior Notice"
The Korean event organizer Channel Candy, which was handling Kanye's 'BULLY' concert originally scheduled for May 31 at Incheon Munhak Stadium, released a statement on May 20 via official SNS:
"We received a unilateral contract termination notice from Coupang Play on the 19th. We also learned of the ticket refund announcement through outside media. We are still awaiting a formal response from the host. We'll do our best to minimize confusion and take full responsibility until the end."
📞 Coupang Play Responds: "Due to Artist Controversy"
A Coupang Play representative told Dispatch on May 21,
"The cancellation was due to controversies surrounding the artist."
The platform had initially announced the cancellation on May 19, citing "unavoidable circumstances" caused by Kanye's recent actions.
🧨 The Controversy: 'Heil Hitler' Track Sparks Outrage
The cancellation comes just days after Kanye released a song titled Heil Hitler on May 8 — coinciding with Victory in Europe Day (marking the end of WWII in Europe).
The lyrics repeatedly stated, "All my friends are Nazis. Heil Hitler," and even included a sample of Hitler's speech at the end of the track. Global backlash erupted immediately.
This isn't Kanye's first time making inflammatory pro-Nazi remarks, but the song appears to have been the final straw for Korean organizers.
🛑 Concert Canceled, MD Sales Halted
The concert was officially canceled just 10 days before the event. All related merchandise (MD) sales were also suspended.
⏳ Not Kanye's First Time in Korea
Kanye last visited Korea in August 2023 for the Vultures Listening Experience with Ty Dolla $ign at Goyang Stadium. That performance drew criticism as well — the artist was over an hour late.
As of now, full ticket refunds are being processed. Both Coupang Play and Channel Candy have yet to provide a unified explanation.
