"Her Acting Had to Improve" — Park Bo-young Takes on 4 Roles in 'Our Unwritten Seoul'

"It was a project that made it impossible not to grow as an actor." — Park Bo-young

It's a stage by Park Bo-young, for Park Bo-young. The beloved actress dives into a performance marathon, showcasing an emotional spectrum that shifts from a clueless daughter to a self-sacrificing older sister — and everything in between.

Despite taking on four characters, Park masterfully steers the drama without missing a beat. Her nuanced acting drew both tears and laughter, making Our Unwritten Seoul a binge-worthy new drama.

🎬 Twin Lives, One Actress

On May 21, the cast and crew of Our Unwritten Seoul gathered for a press conference at CGV Yeongdeungpo. Director Park Shin-woo, co-star Park Jinyoung, and Ryu Kyung-soo joined Park Bo-young to unveil the new tvN weekend drama.

Based on the story of identical twin sisters living polar opposite lives, Our Unwritten Seoul explores how a sudden twist of fate leads them to swap lives — forcing both to question their identity, values, and the meaning of love.

Park plays Yoo Mirae, a calm, successful public servant, and Yoo Miji, a tough, part-time worker nicknamed "You-Candy" for her bright, unstoppable energy.

👗 Styling for Duality

"Since Mirae goes through more emotional challenges, I toned down her wardrobe," Park explained. "Miji, on the other hand, has a much freer personality — so I dyed her hair."

But it wasn't just dual roles. Park took on a 1-person-4-characters challenge: Mirae pretending to be Miji, and vice versa.

🌀 A True Acting Gauntlet

"It was unlike any role I've done before," she admitted. "You can't react naturally — everything had to be calculated and pre-planned."

Memorizing lines was tough, too. "I tried to memorize the twin scenes all at once, but it didn't work. I had to study Mirae and Miji separately — it felt like filming two separate dramas," she laughed.

💬 Praise from Co-stars

Ryu Kyung-soo praised her depth:

"There were so many moments I was blown away. She even led other actors with confidence and calm."

As the show features twins, it also includes two male leads: Park Jinyoung plays Lee Hosoo, who supports Miji, while Ryu Kyung-soo plays Han Sejin, who helps Mirae out of her emotional slump.

Park Bo-young smiled, "It's a once-in-a-lifetime chance to work with two amazing male leads at once. I had so much fun filming."

She added, "Hosoo feels like the guy who would tilt the umbrella toward me. Sejin feels like someone who would throw the umbrella and say, 'Let's jump in puddles.'"

🌱 What to Expect

"The dialogue really moved me," Park shared. "There were so many lines I needed to hear myself. I think a lot of viewers will feel healed."

Park Jinyoung added,

"It reminded me that we grow thanks to the people around us. If anyone's going through a hard time, I hope this show gives you hope."

🗓️ Our Unwritten Seoul premieres May 24 at 9:20 PM KST on tvN.
