Mnet's Boys 2 Planet has officially announced a major shift in its debut strategy. What was originally planned as two separate teams—Planet K (Korea) and Planet C (China)—will now culminate in the formation of one unified global K-pop boy group.
🌍 One Team, One Dream: Format Reboot
On May 23, Mnet revealed that filming for Planet K and Planet C had successfully wrapped, and all contestants have now entered full-time training. The show, a follow-up to the 2023 hit Boys Planet, was initially designed to form two debut groups—one from each planet.
However, the producers announced a pivotal change:
"To enhance narrative immersion and dramatic storytelling, we've decided to merge the two separate lines into a single, integrated debut group."
📅 Broadcast Schedule Remains the Same
- Planet K will premiere on July 17
- Planet C will follow on July 18
Both will still air as scheduled, but with a revised storyline focused on building one powerful team across cultures.
💬 Full Transparency with Trainees & Agencies
Mnet emphasized that the change was communicated in advance to both trainees and their agencies, with mutual understanding secured. The production team added:
"We're committed to delivering a high-quality show and debut lineup that truly reflects global K-pop talent."
🤝 Post-Show Global Plans Underway
Even after the program ends, Mnet is working closely with global partners—including those in Greater China—to ensure the trainees from both planets continue their musical journeys, whether as group members or solo acts.
With this strategic reboot, Boys 2 Planet aims to strengthen its impact and create the next international K-pop sensation.
