Former MBC PD Kim Jae-hwan has come forward once again with explosive allegations against celebrity chef and entrepreneur Baek Jong-won, accusing him of long-standing abuse of power both in the broadcast industry and at his company, The Born Korea.
🎙️ Latest Allegations Unveiled on YouTube Talk Show
On May 22, Kim appeared on the YouTube show Maebul Show, where he expanded on previous claims and alleged Baek's influence over casting decisions, pressure on producers, and verbal abuse toward staff.
Kim previously served as a PD at MBC and now runs the YouTube channel Studio Ojaena, where he has criticized Baek's actions, including past controversies involving the show Yeondon Pork Cutlet.
🚫 Accusations of Manipulating Casting Decisions
According to Kim, Baek allegedly blocked singer Kim Ho-joong from appearing on Delicious Rendezvous (SBS), citing a past appearance on a rival show. He also reportedly intervened to prevent a university professor—who had criticized Baek's evaluation methods—from being featured on another broadcaster.
"Baek used his status to pressure production teams. He was the ultimate 'super-gap' (power-abuser)," Kim claimed.
"Production staff were complicit, which is why no one has spoken out until now."
📢 "Verbal Abuse and Retaliation Culture"
Kim further stated that Baek frequently used profanity toward staff, saying:
"He personally admitted to me that he 'lives with swearing on his lips.'"
He also cited testimonies from long-time employees at The Born Korea who described enduring consistent verbal abuse from Baek.
"Even veteran employees speak with one voice—Baek Jong-won regularly used harsh and abusive language."
🚨 Legal Troubles Continue
Baek is currently under investigation in 14 separate cases, including alleged violations of the Food Sanitation Act and Food Labeling and Advertising Act.
Earlier this month (May 6), Baek issued an apology letter and announced he would halt all broadcast activities, except for those already in production.
"With a commitment to reform, I will revamp the organization and transform the company culture," he wrote.
These latest accusations further intensify public scrutiny surrounding Baek Jong-won's conduct as both a media figure and corporate leader.
