The final round is coming. Squid Game Season 3 is about to close the curtains on Netflix's most intense survival saga.
🎭 Behind-the-scenes stills tease the grand finale
On June 4, Netflix unveiled behind-the-scenes stills from director Hwang Dong-hyuk and new images of the iconic VIP Room set. Squid Game 3 will follow the fate of Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae), the Front Man (Lee Byung-hun), and the remaining survivors as they face their final game.
🌍 Bigger, darker, and more twisted
Originally launched in 2021, Squid Game shocked the world with its gripping take on human morality and survival. After returning with Season 2 in December last year, Season 3 now promises to expand the universe even further.
"It's darker and more brutal than Season 2," said director Hwang. "But also quite clever and, surprisingly, humorous at times."
He added, "I wanted to contrast the childlike atmosphere of the game sets with the players' grim reality, moral dilemmas, and brutal fate."
🏛️ VIP Room makeover: Marble, hexagons, and deadly elegance
The newly revealed VIP Room showcases a luxurious design shift—with bright white marble replacing the previously dark and gold tones. Art director Chae Kyung-sun explained, "We used white marble to highlight the cold and icy personality of the Front Man, contrasting Gi-hun's fiery nature."
The dining area also got a symbolic makeover: "The table is hexagon-shaped," Chae added. "A strong geometric figure that evokes the feel of a prophecy—something inevitable and almost sacred."
Chae also noted the thematic use of poisonous plants to represent the toxicity of evil, explaining, "We designed the VIP Room with bold, colorful accents to reflect the beauty and danger of deadly flora."
"In Season 1, we showcased a grassy field to symbolize a survival-of-the-fittest world," Chae said. "But for Season 3, we crafted a space with vibrant yet dangerous poisonous plants to create a more provocative aesthetic."
📅 Final showdown drops this month
Squid Game Season 3 will premiere on Netflix, June 27—marking the explosive end to the globally acclaimed series.
