MBC has once again claimed victory—this time at the ratings table. The broadcaster led the pack in coverage of Korea's 21st presidential election.
📺 MBC tops nationwide viewership with 14.5%
According to Nielsen Korea, MBC's Decision 2025: 21st Presidential Election Special News Desk recorded a 14.5% nationwide rating, ranking No.1 across all channels.
The momentum continued with Part 4 of the special broadcast hitting 14.1%, followed by Parts 5 (13.3%) and 2 (12.8%)—taking up the top four slots in the viewership chart.
Among the big three national broadcasters, MBC was the only one to break double digits. KBS peaked at 5.2%, while SBS trailed behind at 3.7%.
🧠 Tech meets storytelling: MBC's bold format
MBC's election special stood out with its innovative 6-sided LED stage—a first in election broadcasting. The production leaned heavily into narrative-driven segments, such as "Run, Korea," focusing on the lives and voices of real voters.
The pre-exit poll countdown video, "That Day, Together Now", earned particular praise. The piece seamlessly connected historic footage—like Sohn Kee-chung at the 1936 Berlin Olympics—with modern-day citizens of Seoul.
🌟 BTS, Bong Joon-ho appear in powerful montage
The segment bridged past courage with present-day sacrifice, honoring both independence fighters and unsung everyday heroes. Cameos by BTS and director Bong Joon-ho gave the moment added resonance.
🗳️ A historic election night
This year's special election was held following the impeachment of former president Yoon Suk-yeol. Lee Jae-myung was elected president with 49.42% of the vote.
