"We're so thankful you waited. We'll show you even better sides of us." — Jimin
BTS's Jimin and Jungkook have officially completed their military service and are finally back with ARMY. After 18 months of serving their country, the two were discharged on June 11 and greeted fans at Yeoncheon Public Stadium in Gyeonggi-do.
The atmosphere? Absolutely electric. Media outlets from Korea and abroad had been camped out since early morning. Banners like "Welcome Back!" and "We Missed You!" were seen all around the venue.
At around 8 a.m., Jimin and Jungkook appeared before reporters. Looking a little shy but excited, they smiled and said, "This feels surreal." With a proud salute, Jungkook declared, "We've been officially discharged!"
Jimin thanked the fans who came out:
"Thank you for traveling all the way to see us. I truly appreciate everyone who waited. From the pandemic to the military, it's been a long time. Thank you so much for staying with us."
Their message sparked hope for BTS's full-group comeback.
"I think it's time we keep painting the picture we've been working on. We're getting ready to show you something amazing," Jimin hinted.
Jungkook also shared heartfelt thanks to those he served with.
"Shoutout to my seniors, juniors, fellow soldiers, and officers. Thank you for being kind and taking care of us."
Jimin added:
"It was my first time in the military, and honestly, it wasn't easy. But through sharing meals, sleeping in the same room, and going through it all together—we really built strong bonds."
They also took a moment to highlight the effort of Korea's military personnel.
"There are so many people out there working hard to protect us. If you ever see a soldier, please say something kind," Jimin urged.
With Jimin and Jungkook's return, BTS's military chapter is nearly over—6 of the 7 members are now back. SUGA is scheduled to be discharged on June 21.
