BTS members Jimin and Jungkook have officially returned to civilian life.
💬 On June 11, the duo went live on fan community platform Weverse to celebrate their discharge — and yes, they brought the real stories.
🫣 Jimin admitted, "We're both super shy. Even around the camera and ARMY." Jungkook added, "My hand was shaking during the salute. I don't even remember what I said — I tried to prepare something, but it all just disappeared."
👥 The two enlisted together in December 2023 as active-duty soldiers in the ROK Army and served in the 5th Infantry Division Artillery Brigade. Jungkook made headlines when it was revealed he was working as a cook in the unit. 👨🍳🍲
💭 Jimin got real about the anxiety before enlistment: "I was a mess. Super stressed going into boot camp. Jungkook seemed okay, but I struggled every night after dinner just trying to get through it. He gave me so much strength."
👉 But plot twist: "Once we got our unit assignments, the roles reversed. Jungkook started having a hard time every day." 💔
✨ Still, Jimin said the people they met were amazing: "I was worried, but everyone was so kind. The seniors treated us well, everyone was great at their jobs, and I learned a lot. I'll never forget the efforts of the upperclassmen."
⏳ But military time hits different. "Time literally didn't move. One week felt like a whole month," Jimin laughed. Jungkook? "It felt like three years." ⏱️😩
💥 And of course, now that they're out, the military tea is piping hot. Jimin confessed, "I didn't think I'd be in the artillery unit. The day we got transferred, the cold wave started. It was like -20°C, and one of the seniors said it was the second coldest winter in their 20-year career. I was like, 'Why is this happening to us?!'" ❄️🥶
📢 He kept it honest: "I knew I had to go, but I didn't want to. No one really wants to, right? It's a duty, so I went — but wow, it's not easy. I really felt that. All soldiers go through tough things. Just a little understanding gives them the pride to keep going."
🗣️ "It's a place where you can't help but swear all the time," Jimin said. "I enlisted with Jungkook because I thought it would be better with him… but how were we supposed to know we'd end up at the front line? Everyone looked at us like, 'Why'd they come here?' with pity in their eyes." 😬💥
💡 Jungkook reflected, "A year and a half isn't short, but it really taught me the value of time. It was a meaningful experience."
💖 Jimin added, "The first thing I want to say is thank you for waiting. With COVID and the members enlisting one by one, it's been a long time since we were all together. Now that we're finally back… guess we better start prepping something new, right?" 👀💜
🪖 Jimin and Jungkook were officially discharged from the 5th Infantry Division in Yeoncheon on the morning of the 11th.
📅 With RM and V discharged the day before, 6 out of 7 BTS members have now completed their military service. SUGA, who is serving as a public service worker, will be discharged on June 21.
👏 Almost there, ARMY. Almost there.
