YES24, the major Korean online bookstore and ticketing platform, experienced a massive system outage — and the K-pop world took a hit too.
Since June 9, YES24 has been inaccessible due to a system-wide failure. As of June 10, the site remains down. The company released an official statement explaining the situation.
"The service disruption was caused by a ransomware attack," YES24 stated. "We're currently in the process of restoring the system. There is no evidence of personal data leaks, but we are cooperating fully with the authorities."
They added,
"We sincerely apologize for the delay in communication due to the urgency of the restoration process. We are preparing compensation plans for all users and deeply regret the inconvenience caused."
🎫 K-pop Tickets Affected Too
The issue extended to YES24's ticketing platform, YES24 Ticket, forcing multiple high-profile K-pop events to change their plans.
- ENHYPEN canceled the offline fansign event for their 6th mini album 'DARK BLOOD: Unleash' due to the system failure.
"We had planned to accept fansign entries from June 7 at 11 PM to June 9 at 11:59 PM, but the system crash forced us to cancel the event," their agency announced.
- ATEEZ postponed ticket sales for their upcoming world tour stop 'IN YOUR FANTASY IN INCHEON'.
- Park Bo-gum also rescheduled the pre-sale verification for his Seoul fan meeting tour 'BE WITH U'.
