Namkoong Min & Jeon Yeo-been Dive Into a Heart-Wrenching Love Story in 'Our Movie'

Namkoong Min and Jeon Yeo-been are teaming up for a powerful, old-school melodrama — and it's set to pull on everyone's heartstrings.

🎬 No Gimmicks, Just Pure Emotion
Our Movie tells the story of a genius film director and a terminally ill actress whose love blossoms through their shared passion for film. With minimal flashy direction, the drama focuses entirely on raw, emotional acting.

Director Lee Jung-heum summed it up best: "This drama doesn't rely on fancy dialogue or visuals. It's all about sincerity."

Namkoong Min's reunion with SBS also has fans buzzing — especially after the success of Stove League (2019) and One Dollar Lawyer (2022).

"It's been three years since I worked with SBS. I've already seen up to Episode 11, and I'm confident this will exceed expectations," Namkoong said at the press conference held on June 10 at CGV Yongsan.

💔 A Timeless Romance Between Life and Art

Namkoong plays Lee Jae-ha, a once-hailed genius director who's lived under the shadow of his legendary father. He struggles to follow up his debut hit, until he decides to remake his father's masterpiece, White Love.

The role was a no-brainer for Namkoong:

"I go with my gut when choosing scripts. This one was so engaging, I said yes within two days."

As a 27-year veteran of the industry, Namkoong said playing a director felt natural — but more than anything, he focused on portraying "a man deeply in love."

☀️ Jeon Yeo-been as a Ray of Sunshine

Jeon plays Lee Da-eum, an aspiring actress with only five years to live due to a rare genetic condition. Still, she chases her dream and auditions for the lead role in White Love.

"She's like sunlight," Jeon said. "Playing someone so full of life actually made my own heart stronger during the 7-8 months of filming."

Rather than focus on sorrow, Jeon portrayed Da-eum as fiercely alive.

"She knows her time is limited — which is exactly why she lives so fiercely."

Da-eum also finds herself in a quiet rivalry with top actress Chae Seo-young (played by Lee Seol), who once rose to fame under Lee Jae-ha's direction. The love triangle adds a layer of emotional complexity.

🎞️ Chemistry That Feels Real

The heart of the drama is the evolving romance between Namkoong and Jeon's characters. Their bond grew naturally — both on-screen and off.

"When I first read the script, I already imagined Namkoong Min as Jae-ha," Jeon revealed. "Even just picturing his gaze made my heart flutter."

She added,

"He's someone I deeply respect. That admiration easily turned into affection — and I think he found it endearing."

Namkoong was equally touched by Jeon's dedication:

"She gave so much to every scene. Her energy became a turning point in my acting career."

They've even promised to work together again. Namkoong joked that he'd cast her in his next directorial project, to which Jeon responded,

"I'll be working hard and ready when that day comes."

💬 Final Words from the Cast

Jeon said,

"This drama will truly move you. It's as refreshing and honest as Pyongyang cold noodles — perfect for the summer."

Namkoong wrapped it up with a passionate plea:

"I'm genuinely proud to be part of this. Please don't judge it by just Episode 1 — watch at least up to Episode 4."

Our Movie premieres on June 13 at 9:50 PM KST on SBS.
