"Why did the world end up like this?" — Lee Min-ho brings iconic web novel character to life
Lee Min-ho is making a powerful return in the fantasy genre — and this time, he's bringing intense charisma and deep emotion to the screen.
🎬 Apocalyptic Action Meets Web Novel Fantasy
His upcoming film, Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint (directed by Kim Byung-woo), is an action-packed apocalypse thriller based on a best-selling web novel. The plot imagines a world where a fictional novel suddenly becomes reality — and people must fight to survive in the chaos.
🧊 The Cold, Immortal Hero: Yoo Joong-hyuk
Lee Min-ho plays Yoo Joong-hyuk, the main character of the in-universe novel Ways of Survival in a Destroyed World. He's the strongest character in the storyline, equipped with a regression ability that allows him to restart life even after death.
Once an idealist, Joong-hyuk has become cynical through endless loops of death and betrayal. However, he begins to take interest in Kim Dok-ja (played by Ahn Hyo-seop), a mysterious reader who breaks the flow of the original story.
💬 Lee Min-ho on the Role
"I thought deeply about the loneliness of an immortal man," Lee shared. "Since the character is constantly fighting, I dedicated a lot of time to action training."
He also focused on subtle emotional detail. "Yoo Joong-hyuk needs to feel real so that the audience can truly believe in the world he's living in," he explained.
🧠 Acting Through the Eyes
From eye movements to facial expressions and gestures, Lee aimed for naturalism. "I didn't want anything to feel fake. I tried to keep everything grounded and believable," he added.
