From hometown pride to historic preservation — Seungkwan gives back again
SEVENTEEN's Seungkwan has made another heartfelt donation — this time to protect the cultural legacy of his beloved hometown, Jeju.
🌿 ₩20M Toward Jeju's Historic Archives
PLEDIS Entertainment announced on June 11 that Seungkwan donated 20 million KRW to the National Heritage Administration and the National Trust for Cultural Heritage. The funds will be used to preserve the historical archives related to the Jeju April 3rd Incident, which were officially added to the UNESCO Memory of the World Register this past April.
🏝️ A True Jeju Ambassador
As a native of Jeju Island, Seungkwan has continually shown pride and dedication to his roots. Last year, he was named a Jeju promotional ambassador and made donations to protect endangered Indo-Pacific bottlenose dolphins through the Hometown Love Donation Program.
🌍 Spreading Jeju's Story Globally
In 2023, Seungkwan also represented Jeju at the 13th UNESCO Youth Forum in Paris. There, he spotlighted Jeju's unique distinction as the world's first region recognized by UNESCO in three different natural environment categories.
🎶 Meanwhile, SEVENTEEN released their 5th full-length album HAPPY BURSTDAY on May 26, continuing their global rise.
