Former THE BOYZ member Ju Haknyeon has publicly apologized for a recent controversy surrounding his private life — but firmly denied allegations of solicitation.
On June 19, Ju posted a handwritten letter to social media, writing, "To the fans and everyone who may have been shocked, I sincerely apologize for causing concern due to this unfortunate incident."
He acknowledged part of the rumors: "It's true that I was at a late-night gathering on May 30 with an acquaintance." However, he firmly stated, "There was absolutely no illegal activity, nor did I engage in anything like what's being said in the reports or rumors."
Ju added, "I am deeply reflecting on my actions and once again sincerely apologize to those who were disappointed or hurt because of me."
The controversy began after Japanese outlet Shukan Bunshun published photos of Ju reportedly drinking with AV actress Asuka Kirara in Japan. Following internal discussions, his agency, Onehundred, announced Ju Haknyeon's departure from THE BOYZ and termination of his exclusive contract.
Onehundred's chairman, Cha Gawon, also issued a public apology, vowing to improve the agency's management of artists' private lives.
Ju Haknyeon first gained recognition through Mnet's Produce 101 Season 2 in 2017 and later debuted with THE BOYZ that same year.
