Actor Shin Seung-ho has been exempted from South Korea's mandatory military service after undergoing surgery for a torn ACL.
🎙️ Agency confirms medical exemption
On June 18, a representative from King Kong by Starship shared,
"Shin Seung-ho suffered an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear during a personal activity in 2021. He underwent surgery and was later granted military exemption based on medical grounds."
⚽ From soccer field to screen
Shin Seung-ho originally pursued a career as a soccer player for 11 years before debuting as a model in 2016. His acting career kicked off in 2018 with the web drama A-Teen, and he rose to fame as Sergeant Hwang Jang-soo in Netflix's D.P.
Since then, he's built a solid acting portfolio with appearances in:
- Alchemy of Souls
- Weak Hero Class 1
- The Good Bad Mother
- Pilot
🎬 New drama & movie on the way
Shin will return to the small screen through the drama The Inside Men, a remake of the acclaimed film. He'll be acting alongside Song Kang-ho, Soo Ae, Koo Kyo-hwan, and Kim Ji-yeon.
The project brings together some major names:
- Director Mo Wan-il (The World of the Married, In the Forest with No One)
- Writer Lee Ki-cheol (Assassination, Escape from Mogadishu)
🎥 His film Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint, directed by Kim Byung-woo, will also hit theaters on July 23. Shin plays Lee Hyun-sung, a soldier who protects his team with overwhelming strength.
