Former THE BOYZ member Ju Haknyeon has strongly denied allegations of prostitution. He claims he only met the AV actress in a private, non-professional setting and insists he was unfairly dismissed from his agency, One Hundred.
In contrast, One Hundred expressed regret over what they called Ju Haknyeon's one-sided assertions, stating that "the contract termination was a fair and reasonable action," and pointing out that Ju is evading responsibility and making false claims.
On June 20, Ju Haknyeon posted a lengthy statement on his personal Instagram. "I have not committed any illegal acts," he wrote. "If there is any evidence that I engaged in prostitution, I urge you to make it public immediately."
He also stated that he never agreed to terminate his contract. "I never withdrew from the team, nor did I consent to the termination of my exclusive contract," he said. "The agency demanded over 2 billion KRW in compensation and told me to leave, but I never accepted that."
He further claimed that One Hundred treated him unfairly. "They unilaterally removed me from the team just because I was present at a private gathering with a well-known individual, and pressured me to terminate the contract while mentioning over 2 billion KRW in damages," he asserted.
Later that day, One Hundred issued a rebuttal to Ju Haknyeon's statement. "We deeply regret Ju Haknyeon's unilateral and false claims," the agency said. "Recognizing the significant impact this situation could have on the team's activities, we made the decision to suspend him from group promotions."
They also rejected the notion that the termination was one-sided. "Based on the clause in the exclusive contract regarding behavior that damages the dignity of an artist, we clearly informed him that the matter was grounds for termination before making the decision."
Furthermore, they accused Ju of spreading false claims. "The core issue here is Ju Haknyeon's attempt to evade responsibility and his repeated, distorted assertions," the agency said.
Ju Haknyeon temporarily halted his activities on June 16. At the time, One Hundred cited personal reasons and asked for understanding, without providing specific details about the withdrawal.
However, on June 18, it was revealed that Ju had met privately with Japanese AV actress Asuka Kirara. That same day, the agency announced, "After sufficient discussions with THE BOYZ, we have decided on Ju Haknyeon's departure from the group."
💬 Full Statement from Ju Haknyeon:
Hello, this is Ju Haknyeon.
Despite already making it clear that I have committed no illegal acts, some reporters and media outlets continue to publish malicious articles. I will take all possible civil and criminal legal actions against them. If there is any evidence that I was involved in prostitution, I ask that it be made public immediately.
Also, I have not withdrawn from the team, nor have I agreed to the termination of my exclusive contract. The agency is trying to fabricate reasons for termination despite there being none stated in the contract. Some media are also defaming me by carelessly mentioning prostitution without any basis.
The agency demanded more than 2 billion KRW in compensation and told me to leave, but I never accepted that. Nevertheless, the agency publicly claimed the contract termination was confirmed, which is a blatant falsehood.
I was unilaterally expelled from the team simply for being present at a private gathering with a famous person. They also pressured me to terminate the contract, mentioning more than 2 billion KRW in damages. I question whether this is truly how an agency that's supposed to protect its artists should behave.
When I refused to accept the termination, the agency sent a content-certified letter—completely disregarding the procedures outlined in the contract—falsely stating that the contract was terminated due to my misconduct, and even threatened legal action for damages.
Honestly, I'm scared. But I thought—if I give in now, this society might become a place where those without power can be destroyed by things they never did.
I have stayed silent, believing that the truth would come out eventually. But when people try to bury someone with accusations of something they didn't do, I realized I could no longer stay quiet.
I will hold the agency accountable for unjustly kicking me out of the team and claiming the contract was terminated without any grounds. I will also pursue responsibility against the media that hurt me by mentioning unverified allegations of prostitution.
No matter what happens, I'm determined to reveal the truth to the very end. I hope this fight becomes a small source of hope for someone else, and I'm speaking out with courage.
💬 Full Statement from One Hundred:
Hello, this is One Hundred.
We express deep regret over Ju Haknyeon's one-sided and false claims.
We first decided to suspend Ju Haknyeon from team activities, recognizing that this situation could seriously damage the team. After thoroughly assessing the circumstances, we notified Ju Haknyeon that his actions constituted grounds for termination under Article 6, Section 3 of the exclusive contract, which states: "Acts that damage the dignity of a public cultural artist to the extent that it hinders entertainment activities."
We officially terminated the exclusive contract with Ju Haknyeon according to the terms outlined in the agreement. We emphasize that this was a just and reasonable decision.
The essence of this matter lies in Ju Haknyeon's evasion of responsibility and repeated distortion of facts. If these claims persist, we will take every legal measure necessary to protect our artists and the company, and we will submit all relevant evidence to the appropriate authorities.
Following this statement, we will not make any further comments regarding Ju Haknyeon's false claims.
In addition, activities of THE BOYZ—excluding Ju Haknyeon—will proceed as planned. We will do our utmost to protect the honor and rights of the remaining members.
Thank you.
