Wook Lee Stars as a Gangster with a Dream—JTBC's Noir Drama 'A Good Man' Unveils Teaser

Actor Wook Lee is back with an emotional noir story that's bound to pull at your heartstrings.

🎬 Dark Past, Gentle Soul—Lee's Character Teases a Complex Journey

JTBC's new Friday drama A Good Man (written by Kim Woon-kyung and Kim Hyo-seok, directed by Song Hae-sung and Park Hong-soo) dropped three character teasers on June 20, with Lee Wook's noir transformation front and center. He plays Park Seok-chul, the eldest grandson in a powerful gangster family—an heir who's seen too much, lost too much, and now questions everything.

In one shot, blood-stained bandages are tied with tired hands, and emptiness fills his eyes. Yet, a surprising twist unfolds: this gangster once dreamed of becoming a novelist.

📚 From Hemingway Dreams to Harsh Reality

"Where the sun rises, hope remains." Seok-chul recites this Hemingway-inspired quote with a sense of longing, a nod to his buried dream. He adds, "I took the road less traveled, and that made all the difference," symbolizing the soul of the drama—torn dreams, reluctant paths, and the urge to turn back time.

🖋 First Love, Second Chances

Forced into a life of crime, Seok-chul now chooses to reclaim his path—reigniting his childhood dream of writing. Along the way, he reunites with his first love Kang Mi-young (played by Lee Sung-kyung), who aspires to be a singer. Their fateful encounter sparks a new chapter, blending noir tension with deep romantic flair.

🎥 Creative Powerhouse Behind the Scenes
A Good Man is helmed by director Song Hae-sung (Failan, A Family, Maundy Thursday) and co-directed by Park Hong-soo (Lost). The writing team includes veteran Kim Woon-kyung (Seoul's Moon, There Is a Bluebird) and Kim Hyo-seok (Opposition Party). A stellar cast—Lee Wook, Lee Sung-kyung, Park Hoon, Oh Na-ra, Ryu Hye-young, and Chun Ho-jin—promise performances brimming with nuance and depth.
