Actor Jo In-sung will appear at the 29th Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival (BIFAN) alongside director Ryoo Seung-wan.
🎬 Special Program 'B My Guest: Filmmaker Spotlight on 'Filmmaker R&K'
On June 24, the BIFAN organizing committee announced the special program B My Guest: Filmmaker R&K. The event will feature a Mega Talk session with actor Jo In-sung, director Ryoo Seung-wan, and CEO Kang Hye-jung in attendance.
B My Guest is one of BIFAN's signature segments. Each year, it invites notable guests to engage in in-depth discussions with audiences, spotlighting significant works and exchanging insights on filmmaking and genre cinema.
This year's guest of honor is the production company Filmmaker R&K, celebrating 20 years of storytelling. The program will look back on their journey and explore the evolution and future of Korean genre films.
🎥 Films to be screened
- 'The City of Violence' (2006) – Filmmaker R&K's first production, which opened new doors for Korean-style action.
- 'EXIT' (2019) – A prime example of the studio's knack for blending commercial appeal with clever concepts, mixing comedy with emotional family drama.
- 'Escape from Mogadishu' (2021) – Based on the real-life evacuation of North and South Korean embassy workers during the Somali civil war. The film's intense suspense and political resonance gained critical acclaim.
Following the screenings, a Mega Talk titled "20 Years of Filmmaker R&K – And Now" will be held. Jo In-sung, who starred in Escape from Mogadishu, will join the discussion.
